CCTV report (Xinwen Lianbo): The latest crop survey by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs shows that this year’s summer grain harvest is a certainty. Interviewing on the front line of the harvest, CCTV reporters found that higher summer-grain output and improved quality provide a solid basis for securing supply and stabilising prices.

So far, nearly 80% of the summer grain has been harvested: the wheat harvest is essentially complete in Sichuan and Hubei, drawing to a close in Anhui and Henan, and accelerating in Shandong, Hebei and elsewhere.

The latest survey shows that, thanks to matched improved seeds and methods plus stronger scientific disaster resistance, this year’s summer grain achieved a recovery in output.

As a focus of agricultural supply-side structural reform, the state has lowered the minimum wheat purchase price for two consecutive years, guiding farmers to adjust their crop mix to market demand; the market-scarce premium specialty wheat rose to 33%.

Seeing the improvement in wheat quality, this flour mill spent over 30 million yuan to rebuild a production line before the harvest, dedicated to processing bread flour.

With grain in hand, there is no need to worry. Higher summer-grain output and ample supply add weight to keeping overall prices stable.
